Glad to be back

So the Cruise was a bust! We HATED it...it was tacky, awful, and decidedly un-preppy. The Food was terrible, the people were bordering on unbearable, the decor was circa 1995 and the way they try to shamelessly nickle and dime you was insulting. I hated almost everything- NO! I do not want to buy a gold chain by the inch off a spool. NO, I do not want to watch a hairy chest competition. NO, I do not want to buy a soda card for $40. NO! I don't want to do the YMCA on the Lido deck! AND NO I DO NOT WANT MY HAIR BRAIDED!!!!!!!

It was terrible. The only part we liked was the 24 hours we spent in Old San Juan before the cruise started, and a couple of the excursions we went on- one where there weren't many people and we got to drive our own boat to a small deserted island was particularly cool.

Other than that it was not my cup of tea. I am sorry if there are people out there who love cruising- you only need assume that you went on a much nicer one than I did.

Sail Away: Anniversary Trip to the British Virgin Islands

Big Guy and I received a vacation as a wedding gift and they were kind enough to book it for our One Year Anniversary. So we are off in five hours! We fly to Puerto Rico in the morning and then on Sunday we head to the Virgin Islands. We are going to Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia, St.Kitts and maybe even one more that I am forgetting. I am guessing that I won't feel like blogging and I don't even know if I will have access to a computer- so I suppose I will talk to you all when I return on the 27th!

I wanted to let you know that there are a few blogs I have not had the chance to add to my list, but it is not for lack of caring- I promise to add them when I get back- I just ran out of steam at the end.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and next week. I know Big Guy and I will be enjoying ourselves- especially being able to be away together for our 1st Anniversary on Monday!

Liily found!!!....and lost

I managed to find three Lilly dresses at Marshalls just off Michigan Avenue--the one near Ann Taylor. They were pink and cute and I was so excited until I saw that the smallest size they had was an 8. Now usually, I might be able to deal, so I decided to try them on. This was Lilly however, and I tend to go down a size when I wear it, so the 8 looked stupid on me. Way too long- swimming in the chest...I looked like a freshman trying on a Seniors prom dress. It was a blessing in disguise however, because I realized this morning that I am going to MIAMI.....not Palm Beach! I need to be a little more sassy with my clothing options-- so off I jetted to the place I usually hate and grabbed a strapless blue dress a gold necklace in case I feel bold, a pretty sea glass necklace in case I am feeling posh and sweet, and a long necklace with an orange medallion in case i am feeling bo-ho Miami...

For Saturday night I have grabbed a dress that I have had for a while but only worn twice- it is an aqua dress with streaks of pink and yellow--very FLORIDA- and I have pink patent sandals to match.

...And Boy Are My Arms Tired!

I just flew back from New York City Sunday night and it occured to me this morning that I didn't even mention I was going! Anyhow, I should have, and I am excited to share my stories and pictures with you-including a low-level celebrity sighting. First, I thought I should share my favorite shopping/sightseeing/lunching outfit.

I was very happy because I looked very pulled together when I was out and about, and as my husband pointed out, I am much more fun when I am pleased with my outfit.

We arrived Thursday morning and set out to see the sights on our own just the Big Guy and Me. I have been to the City before, but this was Big Guys first visit, so I was so happy to share it with him. We saw Ground Zero, and BG was very struck by it-seeing it in person. Then we went to the beautiful church nearby, and then crossed Broadway and went to the Financial District to see the NY Stock Exchange.

Then we walked to China town and had lunch at a cute little place we found after wandering forever and finally following where all the young hip looking chinese teens were headed. We ordered 3 of the strangest things we could find on the menu- and they were all fantastic! We had Squid and Sour Cabbage Chow Fun, Salt and Pepper Duck Gizzard and Hot Dog Bacon and broccoli Fried Rice. VERY STRANGE-- but surprisingly REALLY GOOD. I can't wait to go back!

Thursday night we met some friends for Dinner and went to a pizza place in the Village. Then we went to Pinkberry for dessert! So good. This was the night we saw Mischa Barton. Our friend Casually rolled down his window, waved and said Oh hi Mischa- as if they were old friends and she waved back and said Hey- looking really confused. After that we felt bad because Paparazzi jumped out of nowhere and started taking pictures of her... oh well...the price of fame.

Friday Night we had a grooms dinner and cocktail party to attend here in the penthouse suite which was amazing. There is a rumor going around that my 21 year old sister and my mother got in the hot tub on the roof in their underwear. Knowing them, I am inclined to believe it. I swear I could write a book. My mother also told my crush from when I was in London at 15 years old that I was in LOVE with him when I was younger. Slightly embarrassing.

Saturday was spent recovering from Friday night, and around 3:00pm we all started to slowly get ready for the wedding. It was beautiful and we had a great time- just a few pictures to show.

On Sunday we met other friends at their apartment near SOHO and had bloody mary's and some morning brunch munchies before heading out for a late brunch/early lunch at Barney's.

We finished off the trip by shopping on 5th avenue and popped over to Rockefellar Center to have drinks at the Sea Grill while watching the ice skaters. What a fantastic and memorable trip!
