Craft Project Success!

My Friday night craft project was a success! We had so much fun making these ribbon ornaments. A friend and I made a night of it--drinking wine and watching ELF and Love Actually. It was so much fun. The weather was so crummy all weekend that this provided the perfect escape-we stayed in again on Saturday night and made a few more- however, I must admit that there was more wine drinking than crafting that night! I wanted to share the final product with you all in case you wanted to try them yourself! I will say that you need a LOT of ribbon. It takes almost a whole spool to do one ornament. It was worth it because we had a great time making them. Here are two of my favorites.

I wish I had an easy How-to guide. I really just saw them online and thought I could make them. We did have a tricky moment when we fisrt started, but we figured it out pretty easily. The pins were really helpful. I didn't us ethe hot glue as much as I thought- the pins were less messy. The only way I can describe the wrapping technique is that it is almost like a very very narrow fiure eight. You'll see what I mean if you try it-it didn't take us long to get the hang of it. So nice to hear that you enjoy my blog- It is so fun to read about like minded Chicago girls!(even if we all seem to be transplanted here!)

Hi- So I am going to try to remember to make these for a little pink and green and yellow tree in my room- just a little tiny tree

Where were you transplanted from? I am from Annapolis MD- you are from the Cape? I have a great friend here also from the Cape- we meet weekly for lunch and joke about living here and talk about home and the normal sarcastic East Coast banter- it really helps to have others here who can relate-

But I love Chicago- but it will never be "home" -

Funny enough- I am not from the east coast- although I have always felt at home there and identified with the region more than my own. I was born in the midwest, but my family has settled all over from Paris to England, Germany, Switzerland, Singapore, California, New York, Chicago, even Hawaii. So I travel a lot to visit everyone, and have the strangest accent ever-While I was in New York a man asked "where are you from, England? Ireland? I was like...ummm. Chicago. and he yelled- "Chicago? why you got a accent!" I just laughed because I don't think I sound English or Irish!
