Chicago Botanical Gardens

Baby H with a friend- can you believe he is only 6 weeks old!?
H was happy to hide behind his sun hat

pretty Botanical Gardens- the pond with ducks

Ever since I moved to Chicago in 2002, I have heard about the Chicago Botanical Gardens. I had never been and really didn't know what to expect, but yesterday baby H and I headed there to enjoy the amazing warm weather and meet some friends. We loved it! It was so beautiful that we decided to become members. If you haven't been, I would totally recommend paying a visit. I hear that once they put in the blooming flowers and more greenery- when the weather gets warm for good- it is supposed to be breathtaking. I can't wait to hang out there and let H play in the rocks, feed the ducks and run around.

We have been members for the past 5 years or so and we love it. It's absolutely my favorite place in all of Chicago. We were just there on Sunday, actually. It was sorta chilly and windy, but the boys just love running around the place.

When your little guy is about 2yo, he will LOVE the train garden. We buy a punch pass because we go so often (it's an add'l cost). The vegetable garden is great in the fall because they grow pumpkins! The kids love it.

I also love to sit outside and eat at their cafe. For some reason their tea and lemonade (I mix them) taste sooooo good.

So glad you found it - go back in late April/May for the tulips. And then late June for the roses. Amazing!

Baby H is simply precious, and his little hat is too cute! Isn't it great to *finally* have decent weather to take him out in?

I grew up in 5 min south of there. I fell it is such a beautiful place to go during all sorts of weather but especially when the weather was as gorgeous as it was yesterday. Hubby and I love to go to the sensory garden.
What a treat for you to get a membership. You'll have to go on the train. Not sure when that is yet.
I take the nephews and nieces when their mommies need a break.

I LOVE the CBG, I'm a member too. I live 5 minutes away, love it! I love it at all times of the year. Of course, the summer is gorgeous (they have fun culinary events too) but the fall festivities and the Christmas lights are spectacular. That and Ravinia are two of my most favorites things on the NS! Enjoy!
